Ash Wednesday Resources
Our Ash Wednesday service this year has been suspended because of weather. We've prepared a devotional video that will go live at 6:00 PM on Ash Wednesday and be available in our archives for 3 months. You can find it on our website.
As a supplement to that video, we're also including a home worship litany for Ash Wednesday that was prepared by Tupelo FUMC. It has great elements including examination questions offered by John Wesley to his groups.
ASH WEDNESDAY
This is a day to celebrate our limitedness and mortality. "From the dust we came and to the dust we shall return." It is a time of reflection and repentance to begin the Lenten season. The Lenten season is a 40 day period, excluding Sundays, that lead into Easter.
MAUNDY THURSDAY
A service that remembers and celebrates the Last Supper when Christ gathered his disciples for one final meal. During our Maundy Thursday service we celebrate communion and transition into a Tenebrae service (or service of darkness) that takes us through the trial and crucifixion of Jesus.
EASTER SUNDAY
Easter Sunday is our highest holy day. It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus.
